Privacy policy

Cursed Clay Co is run by Charlotte Reese, making strange clay creatures in Worcestershire, United Kingdom. This policy explains what personal information the site collects, why, and what happens to it. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to sell you a creature and keep in touch if you ask us to, and we never sell your data to anyone.

If you have any questions about your data, email [email protected].

What we collect and why
When you adopt a creature.
We collect your name, email address and delivery address so we can process your order, post your creature and send you order updates. This is necessary to fulfil the contract between us. Payment is handled entirely by our payment processor; your card details go directly to them and are never seen or stored by us.
When you join the waiting room. We collect your email address so we can tell you when new creatures are released. This only happens with your consent: you sign up, then confirm by clicking the link in the email we send you. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing works immediately.
When you contact us. If you email us or use a form on the site, we keep the message so we can reply and refer back to it.
When you browse. Our web server keeps standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and to keep the site working. We use only essential cookies, which are needed for the basket and checkout to function. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
Who your information is shared with
We share your information only with the services needed to run the shop: our ecommerce platform and payment processor (to take payment securely), our postal carrier (your name and address, so your creature can find you), and our web host (where the site and its data live). Our mailing list runs on our own website rather than a third party service, so waiting room emails stay under our roof.
We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.

How long we keep it
Order records are kept for six years, because UK tax law requires it. Waiting room emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages are kept as long as they are useful, then deleted.

Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (except records we legally have to keep, like order history for tax). Email [email protected] and we will sort it out. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with an updated date.
